Anita Wright

President and Founder of Shapes
– an Apple

As a young, single mother of three in need of an income, Anita started her career, at a small print shop, as a production coordinator. When a better opportunity came along, one with more management responsibilities, she jumped at the chance. During her eight-year tenure there she rose in ranks to Senior Marketing Manager, responsible for a large staff and multimillion dollar budgets. However, her success there and her love of all things promotional convinced her to embark on her own business – appropriately named Wright Alternative.
Wright Alternative initially facilitated the marketing and print needs of its clients. Not surprisingly, when their marketing needs extended into contests and events, Anita was up for the challenge. In fact, she quickly realized that her greatest strength lay in developing themes and organizing events and Wright Alternative soon morphed into an event management firm.

In her own words… The Right Shape Inc. grew out of what I thought was going to be a small side show at one of my “cross country” fashion events. The idea for the show, which we called Shapes, was based on my observation that most women are more preoccupied with trying to change their shape than they are with understanding how to dress to maximize it (myself included). Because the concept of dressing for your figure was not new I was astonished how many women wanted to have their “shapes” done at these events. I was literally mobbed at every event – clearly there was a need I thought. What I found fascinating was that once women had their shape done and learned how to dress, they went to great lengths to find me to tell me how much more confident they felt. Many had lost weight (although that was never part of our intention) and almost all told me they buy fewer clothes but everything they buy they wear.
That's when I started thinking – How can I bring this message and these lessons to as many women as possible? Getting the Shapes message out through the Home Party business model seemed the best way to reach a lot of women quickly and additionally, it was a way we could give them an opportunity to start their own business.
As the mother of two daughters and someone with a robust network of female friends, the thought of helping other women realize their potential was one of my strongest motivators.
I firmly believe that through Shapes I can do that.

I would like to welcome everyone and wish those who are joining us, the best of luck.
She has appeared on several talk shows promoting the Shapes concept – and it looks like this is only the beginning.

VP Consultant – a Rectangle

In 2000, after a career as a graphic designer working for other people, I started my own Interior Design business which, through a variety of circumstances, led me to the fashion industry. It all started when I met Anita and she asked me to help with her fashion shows. I became responsible for pulling clothes for the models and dancers. What I thought was going to be an easy job (models look fantastic in anything I reasoned), turned out to be not so easy. I soon realized that not all styles looked good on all of the models because even models have different body types. And to my surprise, like the rest of us, many of them had insecurities about the “shape” of their bodies. This experience really changed the way I thought about the whole issue of self image, body types and dressing.
I had already been working with Anita on the fashion shows for some time so when she told me about Shapes and invited me to join her in the early “road show” stages of her Shapes shows, it was an easy decision. I loved the whole concept and with a little training and watching Anita at work I soon became a Shapes Consultant. The best part for me in all this is seeing first hand how empowering it is for women when they finally accept themselves as they are.

I have been happily married for 7 years and have the pleasure of raising four wonderful children in my blended family. For me, being a Shapes Consultant, Director and a founding member is just the icing on the cake.

VP Marketing & Advertising
– a Rectangle

I have operated my own Marketing firm for over 23 years and have known Anita for much of that time. Unlike some of my colleagues I have never been “into” fashion and to be honest I hate shopping. However, I am a great believer in the power of positive thinking and supporting women to be all that they can be. As a runner I had always thought that the way to “empowerment” was through sports. But sadly I noticed over the years that many women are so self-conscious about their bodies (regardless of what their shape) that they wouldn't even consider an activity.
When Anita told me about Shapes and I witnessed for myself the dramatic positive effect it had on women, everything fell into place. Getting involved in Shapes is a way for me to combine all my passions – continue running my own business, help other women and to the delight of my “tree hugging” spirit, have a positive impact on the environment.

I have been happily married for 36 years with two adult children and three beautiful grandchildren. Being a Shapes Consultant and Director allows me to pursue all my passions and enjoy my family.

VP Media – a Pear

I'm a pear. I've been a pear all my life. Sometimes I'm a big pear. Sometimes I'm a small pear. I wish I had known that when I was growing up desperate to lose weight in the hopes that my body would become something else. But now I know I'll always be a pear – and as it turns out – that's not a bad thing at all.
Trying to dress was a perpetual struggle for me. I frequently bought clothes I wasn't really happy with and like so many women I ended up wearing a fraction of the tons of things stuffed into my closets.
Anita is my mother – and the founder of Shapes. I really hadn't paid much attention to what Shapes was all about until I noticed – to my delight -- that the “outfits” I got from her as gifts always looked great on me. She was using her Shapes knowledge and applying them to me. That's all it took to get me involved.
Since I've learned the Shapes rules and become a Consultant and Director I've realized that smart shopping is good for my self-esteem and my pocket book. I don't hate being a pear anymore. I am not exaggerating when I say Shapes has changed my life!

I live in the Vancouver area with my husband. We've been married for just under two years and are crazy about our little dogs. Being involved in Shapes is very exciting for me. I can see shaping all the ladies I know, one woman at a time!.

VP Operations – an Apple

I have been very fortunate throughout my 20 year career, as an independent contractor for International events I have seen the world, I have watched athletes break world records and politicians change world policy. Working on four Olympics, as well as Commonwealth and Pan American Games and organizing Presidential visits gave me the opportunity to hone my operational skills.
After all that I didn't think I could be impressed easily – until I met Anita. She changed my life and my career path. I am now living my dream – helping women change their perspective and their lives.
Shapes was still in its infancy when I met Anita and she analyzed my shape. She told me I am an Apple and she made me feel great about it. We discussed what styles would work the best for me.
I left her office on a real “high”, thinking, everyone needs to have their “shape” done.
Shapes” concept to the next level.

The rest is history – today as a Shapes Consultant and Director I am happier than ever, helping women realize their full potential and make money!
I married the love of my life and we are the happy parents of an awesome little boy.
